• Calculating planned and actual production costs
• Preparing planned cost estimates
• Calculating the cost of new and custom products
• Checking that material standards are applied correctly in cost estimates
• Calculating the cost of defects, rework and repairs of returned products
• Calculating, analysing and updating material consumption standards
• Monitoring actual material usage against established standards

Labour standards and production staff pay

• Calculating and updating time and output standards
• Calculating rates for process operations and production work
• Revising rates when technology, equipment or time standards change
• Calculating product labour intensity
• Calculating piece-rate earnings for production workers
• Checking that route sheets and completed work volumes are closed correctly
• Calculating extra pay for apprenticeship, mentoring and other production allowances
• Analysing the production staff payroll
• Analysing labour costs within product cost
• Preparing data for the accounting department to process payroll

• Ability to read drawings and technical documentation
• Understanding of production processes, costing and how product cost is formed
• Hands-on experience calculating time standards, output standards and piece rates
• Experience calculating piece-rate pay for production staff
• Strong Excel skills: formulas, pivot tables
• Experience with BAS or a similar accounting system
• Analytical thinking, attention to figures and the ability to find the causes of variances
• Ability to work directly with production: process engineers, supervisors, area managers, the warehouse and accounting

• Experience in serial production
• Experience automating production accounting and economic calculations
• Hands-on experience in labour standardisation
• Knowledge of LEAN and 5S principles
